Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose the time/day you collect my waste to avoid any disruption?

Yes, we can set a schedule to suit your needs. The frequency and day of your collection will be scheduled to make it as convenient as possible for you and your business. Certain restrictions may apply – such as access time restrictions (eg if you are a city centre business) but our aim is to make it as easy for you as possible.

What type of hospitality waste do you collect?

We collect all types of waste – food, waste cooking oil, recycling such as packaging- cardboard, glass and plastic – even things you might not think can be recycled!

Will my waste be recycled?

Yes – your waste will be processed according to what it contains. For example, food waste will be sent for composting. Recycling will be separated and recycled. We don’t send anything to landfill.

What is the best way to manage my hospitality waste?

This depends on the type of waste you produce and how much. If you produce a lot of food waste, it will be easier and likely cheaper to have a separate waste collection, and other collections for recycling and general waste.

Is there any such thing as too much or too little waste for you to collect?

No, we will collect any type and amount of waste from your business. We can advise you on the optimal frequency of collections to minimise the expense and CO2 emissions.

What will happen to my waste once it’s collected?

Your waste will be separated and disposed of in the most environmentally -friendly way we can. Food waste is sent to an anerobic digestor which creates compost and fertilizer; cooking oil is recycled and can be made into bio-fuel; cardboard, glass and plastics are all recycled. After your waste is collected, we can provide you with data on where it has been taken, and how it was disposed of or recycled.

How can we remove waste in the hospitality industry?

The hospitality industry creates a lot of waste from several different streams. Food, carboard, glass, and plastic, are all amongst the waste created at hospitality venues. In order to reduce waste there are a few steps that you could take – for example instead of using single-use plastic drinks cups; reusable plastic or metal cups could be an option. Reducing packaging or purchasing products with less packaging can also reduce the amount of waste you produce. Compostable food containers, whilst not reducing waste, eliminate the use of single use plastics and can be composted alongside food waste.

What to do with my hospitality waste?

Ideally all your waste from your venue should be recycled or disposed of in an environmentally sustainable manner. Food waste should be kept separate so that it can be sent for composting. Your recycling should also be handled separately so that the different dry recyclables such as glass, plastic and cardboard, can all be recycled and made into new products.

I have several locations, are you able to collect my waste from all?

Yes, we specialise in multi-site collections and can arrange to collect from all of your locations. We can even tailor the bins and collections to suit each site.

Do I need to have any equipment on site for my waste?

Not necessarily, in most cases bins will be sufficient. You may need somewhere to store some waste such as cooking oil or confidential waste. We will discuss with you whether equipment will be beneficial – if you have a large site, a compactor or baler might be useful and could save you time and money. Our experts will be able to advise you.

How much will it cost for you to collect my waste?

This will depend on how much and how often you need it collecting, and the different types of waste you generate. As all of our services are bespoke to your needs to make sure you have the best waste system, we will provide you with a quote once we know what you need. This makes sure you’re not paying over the odds for your collections.

My usual waste collector has failed to show up – can you help me?

Yes – just give us a call and we can arrange for a collection.

I’m not sure what service is right for my business, will someone explain my options to me?

Our waste experts will discuss your requirements and find the best solution for you. We will carry out an audit, look at the type of waste you produce and how much, and talk you through your options. We always aim to provide you with the most environmentally-friendly, cost efficient and convenient Waste management solution. Our service is completely bespoke to your business requirements.

How do I know what is the right service for me?

We can advise you on the different services and options that will suit your requirements. Once we know how much waste your business generates and the type of waste, we will design the best system for you to save you time, money and be more environmentally friendly. Our experts will recommend what we think is best for your business based on the type of waste you have, the amount of space you have, and how much waste you generate.

What do you do with confidential waste?

Confidential waste is shredded to ensure that your business complies with regulations. Confidential waste is taken to a shredding facility – this could be paper waste or hard drives

How often will I need a waste collection?

This will depend on how much waste you are generating and what space you have. We will look at how much waste you generate and find the optimal frequency of collections. If you have space, equipment such as a bin crusher or baler could reduce the number of collections you need – saving you money and reducing your carbon emissions. Our experts will create a bespoke collection system for you based on your needs; advising on the optimal type and number of collections you’ll need and arranging all this for you.

How can I introduce better waste management?

We can help with introducing more efficient and more environmentally-friendly waste management. Our experts can advise you on how best to handle your waste; ensure you are meeting legislation and ensure your waste is being disposed of in the most sustainable way. This might be by introducing separate food waste collections, or by installing some equipment to reduce the number of collections.

Will you collect my food waste?

Yes, we collect food waste, compostable packaging and waste cooking oil.

What will happen to my food waste?

Food waste is collected separately and taken to a processing site. Most food waste is processed through anerobic digestion. This is a type of industrial composting process that quickly breaks down the food waste. It produces methane which is then used to make biogas, which is used to generate electricity. The substance which is left over is a nutrient rich digestate which is used as a fertiliser, used to grow more food!
