A recent study revealed that adults travelling for Christmas are set to accumulate more than 700 miles over the festive period.

It becomes a struggle to feel the Festive joy when we’re faced with staggering amounts of waste that is produced leading up to and post Christmas. Travel, packaging production, general waste disposal amongst many many others is at an all time high. As businesses and individuals it’s our responsibility to take action and make a difference.

Understanding The Facts

The study, conducted by coach operator Megabus, engaged 2,000 adults in festive celebrations. It revealed that the holiday spirit encompasses a range of activities, such as gift shopping, family visits, savoring Christmas lights, participating in markets, and attending theater excursions, among other festive pursuits. The findings suggest that, on average, adults plan to cover more than 700 miles during November and December to partake in these festive endeavors.

What are we going to do about it?!

To combat the carbon footprint associated with these festive travels, we have pledged to offset the average travel of 700 miles for each of our employees, by planting 23 much-needed trees across various global projects as a part of our commitment to sustainability. This equates to an impressive 6.90 tonnes of CO2, equivalent to 16,856.70 miles in a standard car.
