WASTE COLLECTIONS > PAINT DISPOSAL

Paint disposal in an environmentally-friendly & compliant way.

We’re all reluctant to get rid of half-used cans of paint, just in case…

Even paint reaches a point when it’s no longer fit for purpose and needs to be thrown away. However, paints are solvent-based and should be treated as hazardous waste.

Finding a safe paint disposal method isn’t straightforward, because liquid paint cannot go into landfill.

That’s where Flame UK comes in. A full paint collection and recycling service is just one small aspect of the package of business waste management support we provide.

Whether you simply need to get rid of some old paint, or you require a complex service covering multiple waste streams, we’ll tailor a solution just for you.

Contact us today to find out more about our paint recycling and disposal service in Nottingham and throughout the UK.

Why Flame UK?

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I dispose of water-based paints?

If water-based paints are completely dried up, they can be disposed of with general waste for us to collect.

How can I dispose of oil-based paints?

Oil paints need to be disposed of by a licensed hazardous waste remover due to the chemicals involved in making them. Flame UK can organise for a licensed hazardous waste remover to collect your left-over oil paint and dispose of it correctly.

How can I dispose of spray paints?

If the aerosol can is completely empty and has been cleaned, it can be disposed of with your regular recycling. However, partially, or completely full aerosol cans must be separated from your recyclables as they are considered hazardous. Flame UK can collect any hazardous waste you need disposing of in an environmentally friendly way.

How can I store paint correctly?

The best way to store used paint correctly is to use plastic wrap across the top of the can and replace the lid. Lightly tap on the top of the lid to secure it to the can and store upside down on a shelf in a room with a steady, moderate temperature.

Why does paint need to be treated separately?

Due to the qualities of paint, it can be considered as hazardous waste. This means it needs to be disposed of correctly to ensure that there are no damaging effects on humans or the environment.

Can you collect my used paint cans?

Flame UK offer a full collection and recycling service to help you dispose of any used paint cans.
