Hole in One: Flame UK raises over a grand for Age UK!

Two members of Flame UK raised over a grand for Age UK by completing the 72-Hole Golf Challenge!

George and Ross, two of our Key Account Managers, already had a passion for golf and took it to the next level by taking on the 72-Hole Golf Challenge. This was all in aid of Age UK – not just because they wanted to spend the day playing golf.

The pair started at 5:30am on Thursday and didn’t finish until 8:30pm, 15 hours later, playing the equivalent of four whole games of golf in one day. They walked around 22 miles across the day, almost as far as a marathon and a total of 45,000 steps each – all in the name of Age UK.

The grand total at the end of the day sat at £1,185, smashing our £500 target. We’re so thankful for all the support from our colleagues, friends, suppliers, and customers for their generous donations.

What will the money Flame UK raised do?

All the money the pair raised will go to Age UK to support the elderly. The charity provides vital services for elderly people up and down the country. They tackle loneliness by providing advice, support, and championship when people need it the most.

What was the final score?

Ever the competitive bunch, they were keeping score throughout the day. The first round saw George score 94 and Ross score 95. In the second round, George scored 103 and Ross scored 104. The third round, George scored 93 and Ross scored 104. In the final round, George scored 97 and Ross scored 101. Considering they’re both relatively new to the sport, we’re quite impressed with those! The overall winner was George with 387 up against Ross’ 404 – a close one!

What did the Flame UK team have to say?

George Gash, Key Account Manager at Flame UK, said: “It was great to take part in the golf challenge for Age UK! It’s a brilliant charity providing vital services to the elderly. I’m really proud to be able to support them.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us. It’s amazing to be able to smash our target and raise this much money for such a great cause. It feels even better than beating Ross’ score”.

Ross Pegram, Key Account Manager at Flame UK, said: “It was such a great experience to be able to raise this much money for Age UK, whilst doing one of my favourite sports. The charity does amazing things, so I’m honoured to support them and their work.

“I want to thank everyone who came together to raise money with us. It’s amazing to be able to do something like this. My feet definitely hurt but it’s all worth it.”

Pam Knight, Managing Director at Flame UK, said: “We’re so proud of George and Ross. They’ve worked so hard to raise a great sum of money for a great cause. It’s been brilliant to see everyone come together to support them, from the rest of our team to our customers and suppliers.

“Age UK is a great charity doing vital work so we’re proud to be able to support them. We can’t wait to see what challenge they take on next!”
