Zero-waste Wimbledon

At this time of year all eyes are on Wimbledon’s Centre Court – and it’s been another exciting tournament so far!

Sustainability promise

This tennis season, we’ve been particularly interested in how the All England Lawn Tennis Association (AELTA) are aiming make the whole competition and Wimbledon venue more sustainable – and aiming to be zero-waste by 2030. 

Starting with small moves such as giving reusable plastic cup options at their bars, reducing the amount of single use plastics, and re-using the green waste from their grounds on the rest of the gardens, there have been some great steps made towards sustainability.   Even tennis balls and racket strings are recycled into new products! 

We had a look at what they’re doing and what other venues and companies, particularly those in hospitality,  could learn from the steps being taken at Wimbledon.  Read more here.

Retail businesses, whatever their size or whatever they sell, whether online or in a shop, face a unique challenge when dealing with their waste.  If you have a retail business, the various waste streams generated mean you have to think smarter to make sure your waste is managed effectively.
