Can you help prevent flooding at your business?

As winter showers continue and the snowmelt from higher ground adds to our river network our businesses come under threat.

Flooding is affecting more businesses every year, we have seen people lose their livelihoods on TV and in news articles as water levels rise and take everything in its wake as they burst their banks.

Hopefully, your business isn’t affected by flooding but as more areas creep slowly but surely into flood land we all need to keep on our guard.

We can all play our part and do our bit to protect our businesses.

One thing we can be sure of every time torrential rain hits our country is the number of calls we get from our customers desperate to keep the rising waters from their doors. Those businesses with yard space, car parks, vehicle washdown areas, and even green areas can overlook one key factor to preventing floods, drain, and interceptor emptying. The regular servicing of your drain network is essential to support the free flow of surface water draining. Sending water on its way from your business into the network unabated is crucial to staying flood-free.

‘Out of Sight’ shouldn’t be ‘Out of Mind’

When we see only above ground and the weather is good, and life, in general, is busy, so we tend not to look deeper than what’s on the surface.

Drains get clogged up very easily, and the worst thing is that when they start to get built up with soil, grit, stones, and hundreds of other above-ground items they just fill up faster and faster. The drain network is designed to handle particles of dirt and grit but your drains just can’t take it. they back up easily and then as soon as a large volume of water hits them they fill and keep on filling, water can’t escape through the sludge which leads to flooding.

The thing is getting your drains cleaned out and silt-free is relatively inexpensive and very efficient. Usually, we recommend for those busy areas of high traffic that drains are cleaned out just twice a year. This is often enough to fix any flash flooding issues and protect your business from the dangers caused by flooding.

We have national tanker coverage and use the latest recycling vacuum tankers to get your drains clean, quickly.
