Food Waste Action Week

Win, Don't Bin!

This week marks Food Waste Action Week organised by WRAP. The week aims to encourage people to use up their leftovers to reduce the amount of food waste they're producing and save money, time and the planet.

A study from WRAP found that around a quarter of all food cooked ends up wasted. They discovered that, among this, UK homes are throwing away 20 million slices of bread and 3.1 million glasses of milk every single day! Love Food Hate Waste found that an estimated 4.5 million tonnes of food that could have been eaten is thrown away in UK households every year – this is worth around £14 billion a year!

Are you ready for your events?

Planning an event can be stressful. With so many different factors to consider, waste can get lost behind. So, we've put together a checklist for everything you'll need to make sure your event's waste management runs as smoothly as possible.

Waste at a festival can include anything from leftover tents to discarded cutlery so managing all the different waste streams can be tricky. You'll need to consider everything from food waste bins to litter pickers to make sure your site is left as clean as you found it. Each year, it's estimated that over 25,000 tonnes of waste is generated at festivals. So, it's important that all your waste streams are covered!
