Waste and Climate Change

Waste on the agenda at COP 27

All eyes are on COP 27 this week, with world leaders gathering in Egypt to discuss action on climate change.

We were pleased to see waste on the agenda this year – it didn’t feature at all at COP 26 – but it’s still discussed as a side issue despite being a key sector in the circular economy.

CIWM say the lack of discussions on waste at COP 27 “is a reflection of how far we have progressed as a profession in the last two decades” – in ways such as working to reduce the industry’s emissions, increasing recycling and diverting waste from landfill. But more discussion is needed to ensure that the impact of waste is a key topic in climate change discussions.

SECTOR FOCUS

Focus on Pallet Recycling

How we Recycle your Pallets

Pallets are large and cumbersome and difficult for businesses to store and dispose of, and the many different types mean you may not know how best to dispose of them. The environmental costs of pallets is high, with wood being a finite resource that takes years to replenish.

Are you concerned that pallets might go to landfill, or worried about what to do with broken ones that can’t be reused?  Are you confused about the different types

Check out our video  – we show you what happens when your pallets are collected – and absolutely none of them go to waste!
